30 thoughts that Can Help you beat Procrastination immediately!

I woke up today Jan 13, 2016 feeling like Paul when he said "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." -Romans 7:15
Several times in the most recent past I have found myself in very awkward situations doing exactly the things I may have previously said I didn't and would not do. Time and again I am back to square one repeating on them and making an even more grave habit of my bad habits and wrong actions.

Do you ever feel this way?

As though you have lost control and willpower over certain things?
And why does this happen?

Whether you do what you want to do or you do what you hate to do, there is still the action of doing involved. So why isn't the doing around something you really mean to do?

For instance you wake up in the morning and you know you should go out for that quick run that gets your heart, mind and body super excited, yet you don't. Instead you mull around the house for several minutes, contemplating your day, opening shelves, closing shelves, not knowing why you did that, lying in bed for longer than you should, browsing the internet and trolling your emails. Then when you do check the time, it has in fact walked farther from you and you have now spent 45 minutes doing nothing at all.
In all of that time you could have gone out for your morning run for 15 minutes. No?
Or you make a resolve to treat yourself better, treat your body better, eat healthier, use protection, manage your time better. All of these things in the back of your mind to do but you find yourself saying "Just this one time to the next Cheese burger and fries, You allow a moment's excitement steal your willpower from under you till you are having sex again with the same person you promised yourself you wouldn't, you still spend several hours contributing nothing at all online but simply consuming media that doesn't improve your life, you still settle for less than you deserve.

Why do we push our lives back by putting off those things that are important to do? If you have made up your mind that something is important why are you not dedicating blocks of time to the doing of that?

I might have answered this question myself this morning. I may be wrong but I do think the concept of 'Instant Gratification' plays a high role in all of these.
We are moved by what satisfaction we can gain right now in the present moment. In fact more than that, the sort of satisfaction where we can see instant manifestation of a result whether that is emotional satisfaction, physical, mental or whatever. As long as we can be satisfied immediately by something or an action, we tend towards that.

Isn't it more gratifying to sit in bed and watch a lot of TV or feign 'research' mulling over every unimportant internet post than it is to write 1000 words of that book you have been telling yourself you would write?

You say you really want to build your body and be more physically fit, yet you never get yourself to the gym because there is always something that comes up, or you woke up late today, or you would just skip today, after all what is so bad about missing a day's workout right?

In life, a lot of what changes us and grows us into better human beings are things we must break a sweat for, things that push our will and demand a little much more from us, things that require more than just a little effort.

If you must change your life and live an extraordinarily fulfilling life, you must begin to set your sights on the very things that scare the shit out of you and begin the doing of them.
You would not see the rewards of your actions immediately but if you can be patient just a little while, the results you get at the end of the tunnel will astound you so much that your self esteem would spike right up the top of your head into the skies, you would appreciate yourself better and would be even inspired to do much more!

What is that one thing you have been putting off for the longest time? Go do that.

  1. Waking up to this ... hmmphf! I have been procrastinating on something that is really important to me, giving excuses as to why I have to wait a little longer before doing anything. I will try and hope I follow through with doing something, no matter how little to achieve that dream with any little time I get. I just get distracted easily, Thanks a lot for this though.
